With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and the digital economy, an escalating number of terminal devices are connecting to the network. This surge leads to an exponential increase in network data traffic; and both computing power and transmission speed are experiencing sustained growth.

Ethernet Switch Data Center Market Expansion

A study by Dell'Oro Group indicates that the Ethernet Switch Data Center market is expected to experience nearly a double-digit Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) between 2022 and 2027, surpassing USD 100 billion in cumulative spending over the next five years. It is expected that 400Gbps (and higher) speeds will constitute nearly 70% of data center switch sales by 2027, indicating a substantial demand for the construction of 400G/800G networks.

Market research shows that 400G/800G data centers are developing in the direction of ultra-large capacity, ultra-high density, and ultra-low loss.  As a trailblazer in data center infrastructure cabling, Rosenberger has been at the forefront of introducing 400G data center cabling solutions since 2019. In addition to this, Rosenberger has consistently prioritized customer needs and real-world application scenarios, driving ongoing innovation. The company has continually rolled out a range of intelligent cabling solutions, including low loss, ultra-low loss, and ultra high-density options. These efforts are geared towards expediting the deployment of 400G/800G networks.

Visualized Operation and Smart Management

Rosenberger's data center cabling solution integrates RFID technology and a software platform to achieve comprehensive information management and visualized operation. The jumper incorporates RFID chips and LED lights. With the assistance of an RFID reader, the panel ports and location information are seamlessly imported into the cabling software management platform through a simple one-click function. This allows for the efficient batch loading and linking of information. Operations and Maintenance (O&M) personnel can instantly access real-time link information and system resource utilization through mobile apps or intelligent terminals. This enables swift fault identification and port lighting recognition, facilitating intelligent management and significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

Comprehensive Support for 40G, 100G, 400G, and 800G Applications to Facilitate a Seamless System Upgrade

The wave of AI large models represented by ChatGPT has pushed the computing infrastructure construction to a new level. Most AI servers adopt the form of CPU+GPU, which require extremely high transmission rates and very low delay. The fat-tree architecture, coupled with an 800G transmission network, ensures equal bandwidth for both uplink and downlink at every node. This configuration effectively minimizes data transmission latency and enhances computing stability. As a result, this setup is poised for widespread deployment in hyperscale centers. In addition, the connection distance between the spine switch and the leaf switch in the AI computing center is longer than the existing standard, which poses new challenges to the data center cabling system.

Rosenberger data center cabling solution adopts the patented and unique PreCONNECT® Trunk connection technology, equipped with various MPO/MTP-LC, MPO/MTP-MPO/MTP modules and patch cords. It can upgrade smoothly in 40G/100G/400G/800G systems, and fully supports the following:

  • 400GBase-SR8
  • 400GBase-SR4.2
  • 400GBase-DR4
  • 400GBase-FR4
  • 800GBase-DR4
  • 800GBase-FR4
  • 800GBase-SR8

The Ultra-High-Density Fiber Distribution System Increased Cabling Density by over 50%

Rosenberger's high-density data center solution features a four-layer pull-out structure with a modular design, expanding installation space. This design accommodates 192 cores LC or 96 MTP/MPO capacity in a 1U height configuration and 768 cores LC or 384 MTP/MPO capacity in a 4U height configuration. This represents an increase of over 50% in cabling density compared to traditional solutions, significantly enhancing cabinet utilization rates and reducing the overall cost of data center construction.

Low-Loss and Ultra-Low-Loss Solutions Reserve Sufficient Link Margin for Future Higher-Speed Transmission Networks

Rosenberger low-loss solution greatly decreases the total loss of OM3/OM4/OM5 fiber links. It extends the maximum cabling link length to 1.5 times the standard, catering to the specific length requirements of AI and other supercomputing centers.

The ultra-low loss solution decreases insertion loss to 0.25dB on multi-mode MPO/MTP and 0.30dB on single-mode MPO/MTP connectors. This reduction ensures ample margin for the entire network transmission links, offering upgrade flexibility for complex applications. Additionally, it sets the stage for the advanced layout of higher-speed 1.6T/3.2T transmission networks in the future.

In the face of the accelerating demands driven by artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and the digital economy, Rosenberger's Data Center Cabling Solutions stand as a pivotal force. As the number of connected terminal devices continues to rise, resulting in a surge in network data traffic, Rosenberger not only keeps pace but excels in facilitating the sustained growth of both computing power and transmission speed. This commitment positions Rosenberger as a vital contributor to the seamless evolution and fast-tracking of 400G/800G network deployment in this dynamic technological landscape.
