The Türk Telekom Group has said that its board of directors decided to appoint Boulos H.B. Doany as new CEO-general manager effective as of Sept. 26, in a written statement.

The group's former chief, Rami Aslan, resigned from his position after three years of service in late August, yet he continued to serve as CEO at Türk Telekom until a new appointment was made.

In the preceding 12 years, Doany was with the Saudi Oger Group, having served as founding CEO of Oger Telecom and CEO of Türk Telekom for five years, according to the statement, which was sent to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) early Sept. 26.

He ran the acquisition of a 55-percent stake in Türk Telekom by Oger Group through a privatization deal and the public offering process of the company in Borsa Istanbul, as well as several other key transactions in the group's history, said the statement.

He also led the successful bid for including operational startup until the full launch of Cell C in South Africa, it added.

Former chief Aslan played a key role in the combination of different company brands under the ceiling of one name and the company's significant contributions to Turkey's transition to advanced 4G technologies, dubbed 4.5G in Turkey.
