Zain KSA ranked first in the Q1 2021 Meqyas report issued by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) in terms of delivering the best 5G services.

The results reflected Zain KSA’s advanced position in providing 5G services, as it outperformed other telecom operators in the Kingdom. In particular, Zain KSA is the leader for 5G deployment, covering 43 governorates, as well as the top performer with regards to mobile 5G average download speed (350.47 Mbps). Meanwhile, Zain KSA is also ahead of its game for the fixed internet video streaming quality indicator, achieving 99.87%.

For the average mobile internet download speed, Zain KSA is ranked 2nd out of eight administrative regions while considering the average fiber internet download and upload speeds, the operator sits in third place with 89.85 Mbps and 29.35 Mbps respectively.

umlaut had previously identified Zain KSA as the leading operator in data performance with its 5G network and other technologies. The company demonstrated the strongest 5G coverage across Riyadh, where its users achieved the highest data stream download and upload speeds.

CITC releases Meqyas quarterly to measure the internet speeds and digital content access speeds in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is done by comparing the speeds of service providers through download, upload, and 5G speeds, ranking the best performing operators in the region. Through the publication, CITC aims to increase competition among service providers and enhance transparency in the sector.
