Qatari telecom giant Ooredoo presented its new mobile network solution at Khalifa Stadium to 45,000 attendees to mark the final match of the Emir Cup football tournament. The operator achieved up to 40% higher speeds than current technologies with the latest 4G advanced centralized RAN. The same technology will reportedly be used for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Ooredoo's Smart Stadium Solution, which the company has been actively working towards, is a centralized solution that caters to overall stadium management to control security, identity management, connectivity, access control, and enable the management of massive events by implementing intelligent predictive models and real-time monitoring.

The stadium is designed to immerse fans in an atmosphere enabled by smartphones and gadgets that connect to smart antennae that collectively work towards making every seat in the stadium "the best seat in the house".

Yousuf Al Kusaibi, chief operating officer of Ooredoo Qatar, said the company "has the smart stadium to create a truly outstanding FIFA World Cup 2022 visitor experience. Qatar will proudly host the world's most technologically-advanced World Cup tournament." Al Kusaibi believes the Smart Stadium Solution will cater for high capacity and high speed broadband to meet the demands of young fans.
