Saudi Arabia has announced the implementation of a comprehensive personal data protection system, following the issuance of Royal Decree No. (M/19) and its subsequent amendments through Royal Decree (M/148).

In anticipation of this milestone, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has launched a nationwide awareness campaign in collaboration with various government agencies. The campaign, titled "Ask Before," aims to underscore the significance of personal data and its pivotal role in enhancing services for both individuals and entities across the nation.

Among its key objectives, the campaign seeks to raise awareness about the shared responsibility individuals and organizations hold in safeguarding personal data as well as preserving individuals' privacy. It also clarifies the positive impact of conscious personal data sharing on service improvement and quality.

The overarching goal of the awareness campaign on personal data protection is to foster trust and collaboration between entities and individuals when handling personal data.

This approach is expected to enhance the stability of data-related transactions and contribute to the realization of a data-driven digital economy.
