The UAE’s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority participated in the International Telecommunications Union’s Forum in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. The forum discussed ideas on hastening innovation in the ICT field, aiming at achieving social and economic development by introducing innovative solutions and exchanging experiences at the global level.

Being a main sponsor of the forum, the UAE welcomed participants in that big event. On behalf of H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, Engineer Saif Bin Ghalita, Director of Innovation in TRA, said, “In today’s world, there is a bad need for innovative ideas to enhance development in the unseen future, find solutions for challenges imposed by the rapid technological development. This big event is the proper place to introduce ideas to enhance innovative thinking out of the box, to shape a satisfactory future for our next generations.”

The TRA’s speech explained the UAE’s vision to create flexible environment to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors and harness innovation culture. Bin Ghalita added, “It is important to unite efforts to make innovation a lifestyle. To achieve this goal, universities should take the lead as they are the incubators of the next generation of leaders, managers, decision-makers and entrepreneurs. Schools and universities should develop an educational system encouraging change initiatives. The future era needs a generation that does not fear of risk or failure to achieve success.”

The UAE’s participation the ITU’s Forum aims at following up the news developments in the field of ICT and exchange experiences with specialists and experts from all over the world.

During the forum, the UAE’s delegation met a number of ITU member state representatives to discuss the latest developments related to the broadband committee and challenges of applying the 5G technologies.

The ITU’s Forum witnessed honouring the Centre of Digital Innovation (CoDI) under the Ecosystem Innovation Awards Program, which aims at exchanging ideas on how the ITU can help states explore the technological scene on basis of innovation.

The UAE’s delegation visited the ITU’s Forum Fair and learned about the latest innovative products, technologies and applications. The fair highlighted the chances of cooperation and investment in the field of ICT.
