The availability of 5G services in the UAE is one step closer to reality as du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), announced its full readiness and ongoing network evolution to offer 5G network during the course of 2018. This is ahead of the anticipated commercial rollout of the 3GPP compliant 5G terminals in 2019.

The RIPE Network Coordination Centre (NCC) and the Kuwait Communication Information Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (CITRA) recently held a training program for telecommunications and Internet service providers (ISPs) to educate them on how to work with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and deploy it on their networks.

Telecom Egypt announces that its 50% owned subsidiary, Egyptian International Submarine Cables Company (EISCC), has executed a Sale and Purchase Agreement with Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding S.A.E (OTMT) for the purchase of OTMT's shareholding of its subsidiary Middle East and North Africa Submarine Cable for a total value of USD 90 million. The transaction aims to be concluded in 60 days, after the fulfillment of all conditions precedents.
