Qatar's Gigabit-speed fibre penetration is the highest in the world, thanks to the rapid roll-out of Ooredoo Fibre, transforming how people experience digital services, according to a new Arthur D. Little report launched at Mobile World Congress 2018.

During Mobile World Congress this year, the Ministry of Telecommunications of Lebanon organized for the second year in a row a gathering for the Lebanese ICT diaspora to share the ministry's vision for the telecommunications sector, achievements and plans for the coming year.

Nokia CEO, Rajeev Suri, has declared that no company is better positioned than the Finnish telecommunications colossus to deliver on 5G services. He made the remarks whilst delivering his presentation at Nokia's MWC 2018 Press & Analyst conference in Barcelona.

As technology suppliers develop the next-generation of wireless technologies, mobile operators invest in the networks of the future, and governments launch innovation programs, the early benefits of 5G will go to economies where globally aligned 5G spectrum and technology innovation is readily available.

The smart home market is important for consumers for many reasons: energy savings, additional security and improved quality of life to name a few. But these benefits do not come for free. In fact, according to a GSMA whitepaper, consumers globally will be spending as much as $121 billion on the smart home market. Qualcomm believes 5G will be a unified connectivity fabric across devices and services. The company's President, Christiano Amon, spoke to press at Qualcomm HQ in San Diego on 7 February about the chipset maker's great ambitions for the next-generation technology, in addition to a string of announcements that underpin the company's commitment to making 5G a commercial reality by 2019.
