According to the latest regional appendix to the upcoming Ericsson Mobility Report, the first 5G subscriptions in the Middle East and North Africa region are expected during the period 2020 to 2022, reaching around 17 million subscriptions by 2023.

Qualcomm Incorporated announced results for its fiscal fourth quarter and year ended September 24, 2017. The company reported revenues of $5.9 billion for Q4 2017 compared to $6.2 billion in Q4 2016 (5 percent drop). Qualcomm said the results were negatively impacted by its ongoing dispute with Apple.

Ericsson is renaming its Broadcast and Media Services business to Red Bee Media, effective from November 9, 2017. The Red Bee Media name and brand identity will apply to all of Ericsson’s Broadcast and Media Services businesses worldwide.

Ericsson has signed an exclusive multi-year contract with FOX Networks Group Middle East to provide playout, media management and global distribution services for three new HD channels. The new channels - FOX Crime, FOX Life and FOX Rewayat - launched last month and are broadcast 24 hours a day from Ericsson's broadcast and media services hub in Abu Dhabi.

Nokia released its Q3 financial results for 2017 showing net sales of €5.5 billion for the quarter compared to €6 billion for the same period last year. The company reported a 7 percent year-on-year sales decrease in Q3. Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri said the company's patent licensing business was the "clear highlight" of the quarter.
