As a key step towards releasing multiple critical bands for a wide range of digital radio services,
the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) published a public consultation on its Spectrum Auction 2021 as part of the implementation process for 'Spectrum Outlook for commercial and Innovative use 2021-2023', which was published earlier this year.

Addressing the session ‘Cyber war: The New Front’ at GISEC 2021,  HE Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, head of cyber security, United Arab Emirates Government, thanked the first responders and health professionals who contributed immensely to society during the COVID-19 pandemic to help people get through their daily lives. In the same vein, he said that digital-first responders made sure that children were able to study online, people work remotely, governments serve their citizens, and researchers collaborate across the whole board to provide vaccinations. Spain, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India, Canada, and Serbia are only some of the countries that had recently released updates regarding spectrum auctions in each jurisdiction. According to GSA’s May 2021 spectrum auction calendar, 20 countries have completed their auctions for various licensing bases between Q1 and Q2 of this year.

BENYA, the leading digital solutions and ICT infrastructure provider in Egypt and the MEA region signed the shareholders agreement with Société Congolaise des Postes et Télécommunications (SCPT) to establish a new local telecommunications operator in DRC, with the aim to develop the telecommunications infrastructure there. Based on this agreement, BENYA Telecom DRC will be established in partnership between SCPT and Benya to build and operate the national fibre-optic network (NFON) in DRC to connect cities and enable a connection with neighboring countries.
