Dubai Urban Tech District, located on the creekside of the Al Jaddaf area, will become home to the most innovative entrepreneurs while creating 4,000 jobs in green urban tech, education and training.
It has been emphasized that the role of urban tech districts is to cultivate the growth of companies that are conceiving and developing technologies to create a collaborative urban tech ecosystem. To this end, urban tech will be at the core of all future cities.
The global urban tech market is estimated to be $158 billion, with tech-enabled urban developments seeking to provide solutions to the challenges created by urbanization, including zero-mile food production, food security, affordable and scalable renewable energy, zero-waste management and waste-to-energy solutions.

Baharash Bagherian, CEO of URB, the company behind the Urban Tech District, said, “Dubai is best positioned to lead the urban tech transformation than any other city in the world. The Urban Tech District will be a new global tech hub for urban innovation. With a total of 140,000 square meters of built-up area, it will be the world’s largest urban tech district. Thus making Dubai the center for urban innovation.”
As a net zero carbon district, the Urban Tech District will become a benchmark for the UAE’s sustainable future and net-zero target goals. Each business in the District will enroll in a tenant zero-carbon engagement program, which aims to help tackle emissions collectively by raising awareness and optimizing operational net-zero performance. Reducing the carbon footprint of partner businesses will enable a low-carbon workforce.
The Dubai Urban Tech District will enable the growth of urban-tech solutions at a much larger scale, as well as provide investment opportunities to innovators that are tackling some of the most critical issues related to sustainable cities. The District will provide opportunities for a new breed of innovative companies that require a platform to grow rapidly.
The District will also be home to the Urban Tech Institute, which will foster the next generation of urban tech leaders. Alongside this, the new district will provide facilities for conferences, training, research, seminars and business incubation, providing opportunities to pilot new innovations based on applied research whilst driving public-private partnerships.
The Dubai Urban Tech District will become home to innovators and entrepreneurs, providing the necessary support and help with investments to enable more livable, resilient and sustainable cities.
